PTA Elections: May 25 2021 6pm
2021-2022 School Year
Dear Toler Elementary Families,
Election season is here for our next PTA Executive Board for the 2021 – 2022 School Year. Toler PTA is looking for fresh volunteers whowant to have an active role in this wonderful school community of families and teachers.
Toler feels like a close community because of our dedicated educators and volunteers making a difference in our children’s education and school fellowship through PTA sponsored programs. These programs include various fundraisers and events; such as Scholastic Book Fair, educational programs; Scholastic News for Kids and supporting the Sage Garden Project. Toler PTA also provides transportation for field trips, funds special assemblies, family nights, Teacher Grants, Staff Appreciation, and School Spirit Wear.

Please take a look at the descriptions below for following executive board positions; President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer (any background in accounting/book keeping is a plus!), are the most important to fill in order to have a fully functioning PTA executive Board. Open Executive Board Positions
Time Commitment: (8-12 hours per month, varies)
Busiest Times of Year: beginning of the year but flattens out; additional special projects
Oversees and coordinates the work of an executive board to run a PTA effectively
Presides at PTA board and association meetings
Serves as the official contact, communicator and representative of a PTA
Designated as an authorized signer for PTA checks, contracts and authorizations for payment
Serves as ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee Works with other PTA leaders to connect families, school and community to support student success
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per month, (busiest time is Back-to-School, varies ongoing)
Works as the primary aide to the president
Helps lead a PTA towards specific goals consistent with PTA purposes and policies
Performs president’s duties in his or her absence
Carries out other duties outlined in unit bylaws and standing rules or as assigned
Time Commitment: (2-3 hours per month, busiest following each PTA meeting)
Takes minutes at board and association meetings
Co-signs formal papers with president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters
Handles PTA correspondence as directed by the president
Maintains and preserves PTA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per month, including attending PTA meetings.
Maintains permanent records to track unit funds and financial transactions
Chairs budget committee and prepares annual budget for adoption by the association
Pays all PTA bills as authorized by board or association
Prepares reports for every board and association meeting and an annual financial report
Ensures taxes and reports required by PTA bylaws, insurance or federal and state governments are completed and submitted by the due dates

In lieu of of the annual poster contest, the Toler Elementary PTA is hosting a virtual pumpkin decorating contest, decorate a pumpkin to look like your favorite character in a book!
How to enter:
1. Choose your favorite book character.
2. Get a pumpkin, it can be big or small, real or fake,even drawings!
3. Decorate your pumpkin to look like your character.
4. Fill out an entry form by 10/26, and be sure to upload a picture of your pumpkin! Click here for form
Pumpkin images will be put into a slideshow and will be shown during the virtual Halloween Houseparty after school on Friday October 30th.
One winner per grade level will be chosen, each winner will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.
Today we kick off the week of fun activities at Toler, all leading up to our Dolphin Dash Fun Run on Thursday, January 16th. You can sign up early starting now. Just check out funrun.com and search for your child’s teacher and name.

Our Dolphin Dash success depends on your participation! Our goal is $6000, and with these funds PTA wants to send the kids on some awesome field trips and hold several enriching evening programs. So please sing up your kids, and tell your friends and family about this fun event!
Due to poor weather tomorrow, March 6th, the Dolphin Dash has been postponed until Wednesday, April 3rd. Same start time of 10:00 am. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope you can join your students then.
Hello all! Long time since we updated on here. But hopefully that will change this year. I wanted to update with a very important PTA fundraiser we will be putting on with the help of Boosterthon. We are calling our fundraiser fun run Toler’s Dolphin Dash! Scheduled for Wednesday,
March 6th. Our Dolphin Dash Pep Rally is scheduled for today at 2:30pm, today also officially kicks off our collection for pledges, which are where friends and family can pledge money for each lap your student will run on the 6th, or just make a flat donation. All of this is done online this year which makes it much easier for all. Students will be receiving daily pep talks and some kind of character building message for the day to help prepare them for the big day, there is also daily prizes students can earn for sign up of pledges from friends and family. More info will be sent home today! I would like to take a moment to thank our sponsors who help pay for the costs of the program, from the t shirts, program prizes and costs. Please join us for an end of summer playdate. All new and returning students and their families are invited for a play date Saturday August 25th at the playground at South Clairemont Park 3605 Clairemont Dr. San Diego, CA 92117 from 10:30am-12:30pm. This is a great opportunity for incoming TK and Kindergarten students to make new friends and make a positive association with their new school before their first official day. Let’s get them excited to
be a part of Toler Elementary!

On behalf of Toler’s PTA board we welcome you returning parent’s of students and our new parent’s of students.
First and foremost we want to announce our First General Membership Meeting is set for Tuesday, September 5th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this evening to meet everyone, listen in and optional input for our school.
Secondly, we have the Family Open House and Back to School Night, Wednesday, September 6th from 5:30 pm – 7:30pm. Enjoy a hosted dinner and head to your children’s class to meet the teacher and talk about the upcoming year.
Lastly please open and save the new PTA membership form 2017-2018, please fill out and leave the form with your check either with your child’s teacher or at the front office. Thank you for your support!
